Neighborhood Stabilization funds headed to SW MO
Transforming foreclosed homes into rental properties for low-income citizens is the goal of a three-quarter million dollar grant on its way to Southwest Missouri. The Harry S Truman Coordinating Council (HSTCC) won the Neighborhood Stabilization Grant to serve the four-county district for the regional planning commission.
HSTCC is one of seven grantees receiving a total of $11 million of Community Development Block Grant funds from the Missouri Department of Economic Development for the stablization program. The awards assist communities in addressing blight caused by rising home foreclosures and declining property values. At the same time, the stablization effort provides housing solutions for lower-income residents. Individuals at or below 50% of the median household income for the area qualify for the rental program.
HSTCC serves McDonald, Newton, Jasper, and Barton Counties in Southwest Missouri. To reach the commission for more information on local stablization efforts and community development solutions, call 417-782-3515.
