$206K in training grants geared to help 14 local industries

More than $206 thousand in grants are on the way to Southwest Missouri’s Alliance for Business to boost the skills of 1,336 workers at 14 companies across the region.  Missouri’s Department of Economic Development and Division of Workforce Development notified the firms recently of the respective approvals in the Missouri Customized Training Program.

The local firms include:

  • Arning Canopy Systems in Cassville
  • Certain-Teed in Joplin
  • Global Metal Solutions and Global Therm in Goodman
  • Hampshire Pet Products in Joplin
  • Holden Industries in Southwest City
  • Jarden Consumer Solutions in Neosho
  • Lozier Corporation in Joplin
  • MariCorp U.S., LLC in Shell Knob
  • Miracle Recreation in Monett
  • Modine Manufacturing in Joplin
  • Monett Metals, Inc. in Monett
  • Thorco Industries in Lamar
  • Window Technology, Inc. in Monett

As the name implies, Missouri’s Customized Training Program (MCT) provides company-specific training to boost the skills and productivity of the workforce at firms across the Show-Me State.   New occupational skills required for technological advances or new product lines are common with MCT.   A variety of quality and efficiency initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaiszen events, and various ISO certifications are offered through MCT.  Essential production skills such as hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, electronics and others in high demand are delivered through MCT as well.

allianceforbusinesslogoIn Southwest Missouri, the training partnership of Crowder College and Missouri Southern State University comes together under the umbrella of the Alliance for Business.   The Alliance is among a network of Missouri’s 12 Community Colleges, 57 Area Career Schools, 1 State Technical School, and several four-year institutions are available to provide competitive training services and locally administer funding assistance through the MCT program.  More information MCT or other solutions through the Alliance may be obtained through Claude Howard by phone at 800-783-8053 or by email to choward@crowder.edu.
