WIB connects educators with green development trends

0

For more than half a century, Pittsburg State University has played host to the largest regional technology conference of its kind, showcasing the latest in technology and technology education. That tradition continues as students and faculty members from five universities and numerous junior high and high schools visited the Kansas Technology Center for a glimpse at the latest in technology and technology education during the 67th Annual Four States Technology Conference, November 12th and 13th.

The theme for this year’s conference was Sustainability Through Lean and Green Technology.  More than 65 programs overall join the lineup that includes tours, exhibits, competitions, and a keynote event.

Jasen Jones, Executive Director for the Southwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board (WIB), was among a dynamic slate of presenters.   The WIB’s presentation Thursday morning covered Green Jobs and Regional Economic Development.  The 50-minute workshop examined the trends and impact of green jobs at play in regional economic development strategies.  Jones introduced regional assets that are driving green development and provides deeper understanding of green jobs classifications and growth projections for each category. Attendees discovered actionable strategies and ways to get involved in the regional green development effort.
