Joplin among recovering metro economies
Of the 381 metro areas that Moody’s economy.com and msnbc.com tracks in their Adversity Index, the Joplin metropolitan is one of only 79 in the nation that moved the needle from the recession stage to the recovery stage as of August 2009.
The index judges two additional stages, at risk and expanding. Indicators include employment, housing starts, housing prices, and industrial production.
