Gov. Jeremiah (Jay) Nixon honored the successful efforts of Missouri’s Next Generations Jobs Team that employed and expanded the skills of thousands of youth across Missouri’s fourteen local Workforce Investment Board regions. Sitton Motor Lines of Joplin announced its closure with layoffs starting this week and running through mid-December. The Workforce Investment Board deployed its Rapid Response Team with the Missouri Career Center to quickly connect Sitton and its employees with services to ease the difficulty of the employment transitions.
Thousands of Missourians now have access to new tools from Microsoft and the Missouri Career Centers at no-cost thanks to the Elevate America initiative. Gov.
