Gary, the WIB’s role in economic development is enhanced through the Business Retention initiative that Gary manages on behalf of the WIB. Gary’s community involvement and expertise in human resources makes him a valuable resource for local companies. The WIB provides an extension for local Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development organizations through tracking of market data and business trends and connecting various resource networks together to improve Southwest Missouri’s competitiveness for expansion and attraction projects.
Gary’s diverse career background includes 13 years in law enforcement with the Joplin Police Department in roles such as patrol, undercover narcotics, seargent, and detective. Gary had a 14-year stint in the utilities sector with Missouri Gas Energy as well. Most recently, Gary served in management roles for Priority Personnel, overseeing a daily average of 315 employees and key customer service functions to companies ranging from very large manufacturing/industrial firms, to medical, as well as small office and construction. This HR background also provided Gary with expertise in work comp and unemployment issues.
